Tamil Nadu Industrial Guidance & Export Promotion Bureau
(The Designated Single Window Agency)

Tamil Nadu Industrial Guidance and Export Promotion Bureau was established in 1992 as a Non-Profit registered Society with the objective of attracting major investment proposals into Tamil Nadu.

Since inception in 1992 to till date, Guidance Bureau successfully attracted more than 300 major investment proposals with an aggregate investment exceeding Rs.3.0 lakh crores.

Functions of Guidance Bureau

First point of contact for Investors

  • Provide information to entrepreneurs regarding the scope of setting up industries in the State
  • Give them guidance on the procedural aspects of starting industries, incentives and facilities available
  • Grievance redressal / resolving problems in setting up industry
  • Search, encourage and identify prospective investors and motive them to establish industrial units.
  • Organize special campaigns outside Tamil Nadu and motivate the prospective entrepreneurs of other States to set up industries in Tamil Nadu

One Stop Information Shop

  • To disseminate information relevant to industrial development in the State
  • Publish reports, brochures, pamphlets, periodicals etc
  • Organize an information centre and date bank with particular reference to industry

Drafting of policies

To conduct applied research on policies and to take up evaluation studies of programme and policies connected with industrial development and give necessary feed back to the Government

Some major investment proposals successfully attracted by Guidance Bureau

Since inception in 1992 to till date, Guidance Bureau successfully attracted more than 300 major investment proposals with an aggregate investment exceeding Rs.3.0 lakh crores.

Single Window facilitation

To avoid procedural delays in getting statutory clearances from various authorities, the Government of Tamil Nadu has established a Single Window facilitation mechanism under Guidance Bureau to accord in-principle composite approval for pre-project clearances at the State Government level.

Guidance Bureau has so far facilitated 241 project proposals with a total investment of Rs.78,225.72 crores through single window facilitation.

Global Investors Meet

Guidance Bureau is also the Nodal Agency for convening Global Investor Meets.Guidance Bureau was mandated to attract investments and to coordinate various activities relating to GIM-2015. Guidance Bureau duly carried out the (i) Selection of Knowledge Partner, (ii) Selection of Creative, Design and Media Parnter, (iii) Organized road shows in France, UK, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, etc. (iv) Local road shows organized in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, etc. and (v) Printing of Brochures, Flyers, Sector Profiles, etc.

Ease of Doing Business

Tamil Nadu Government has taken up a series of measures to simplify and rationalize the regulatory processes (registration and inspection processes) and introduction of information technology as enabler to make governance more efficient and effective.

Guidance Bureau has been entrusted with the task of implementation of reform action points in co ordination with concerned Departments.

Single Window Portal

Single Window Portal under administrative control of the Guidance Bureau, which shall serve as the single point for accepting and electronically distributing applications to the respective competent authorities, receiving electronic payment of fees from enterprises, ensuring submission of supporting documents, communicating queries / clarifications raised by respective competent authorities to enterprises and receiving enterprises’ responses, tracking and monitoring the status of application processing, allowing enterprises to download the final signed clearance, recording enterprise’s grievances and redressal of the same.
